Asst. Prof. Dr. Seren Basaran:
Başaran was born in Nicosia, completed her primary education at Şehit Tuncer Primary School, and her secondary and high school education at Bayraktar Türk Maarif College. After completing her undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Hacettepe University with high honor, Professor İhsan Doğramacı was deemed worthy of the outstanding achievement award as the first in the department and the second in the faculty. She received her master's degree from the Department of Mathematics at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2000. Başaran, who completed her doctorate in Mathematics education at METU in 2011, investigated the affective and demographic factors that contribute to the mathematical thinking and reasoning of university students in her dissertation. Between 1998 and 2006, she worked as a programmer, developer and technical support unit in various distance education projects at METU Informatics Institute. She taught at METU between 2006 and 2011 by contributing to the development of the content of the "Introduction to Information Systems and Applications" course. Between 2011 and 2015, she gave lectures in the fields of education, computers, instructional technologies, mathematics and statistics as a full-time faculty member at Girne American University Computer and Instructional Technologies Department. Having
received the title of assistant professor in 2013, Başaran served as the vice dean of the Girne American University Faculty of Education between 2013-2014. She also carried out postgraduate and web coordinator duties between these dates. Dr. Başaran teaches undergraduate and graduate courses as a full-time faculty member at the Department of Computer and Information Systems at Near East University, and also conducts thesis advisory services. Since 2018, she has been the department chair of the NEU Vocational School Computer Programming departments. How to improve human life in terms of education with the help of technology and adapting instructional design systems to education are among her academic interests. Assistant Professor Başaran has several international and national articles in the academic field, as well as newspaper articles.
