Assist. Prof. Dr. R. BÜLENT ŞENSES  was born in Adapazarı in 1962. He graduated from the Turkish Naval Academy (BS) in 1984. He served in the Turkish Naval Forces as; branch officers, TCG SALİHREİS Frigate Commanding Officer, Commodore of the Frigate Flotilla and Head of the Department of the Turkish Naval Forces Command. He is a graduate of the Turkish Naval War College (MA) (National and International Security), Salve Regina University, USA (MA) (International Relations) and Naval Command College, USA. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from Yeditepe University, İstanbul with his thesis titled "The Transformation of the Ottoman and the Republican Army 1883-1960: Impact on Turkey's Political Life" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Feroz Ahmad. "National and International Security", "Relations between War and Politics", "Geopolitics", "Geostrategy" and "Turkiye’s and world’s political history" are his main academic interests. He is currently a faculty member at the Department of International Relations at Near East University. He has two books, "The Strategic Basis of Naval Warfare" and "The Political Roots of the Turkish Army", as well as various national and international publications. He is married to Aytül Şenses and the couple has two children, Berrak and Begüm.
