İbrahim Ayberk was born in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus, in 1987. He received his BSc. and MSc. Degrees in Political Science and International Relations from the Middle East Technical University NCC, in the years 2010 and 2013, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from the Near East University in 2019. During his Ph.D. he served as a Teaching Assistant in the Political Science and International Relations departments. He started teaching at Middle East Technical University NCC in 2020 as a part-time instructor, Dr. and became a full-time member of staff at the Department of Political Science in Near East University in 2022. In the same year, he was assigned as the Co-editor of Near East University Journal of Social Sciences. His research areas include De facto States, Patron State-De facto (client) State relations, contemporary Turkey-Northern Cyprus relations, nationalism and civil society. He is currently a full-time academic staff at the Political Science Department at the Near East University. His academic works on De facto States and contemporary Turkey-Northern Cyprus relations were previously appeared in highly prestigious academic journals including Southeast European and Black Sea Studies and Uluslararası İlişkiler/International Relations.
