Prof. Dr. Huseyin Özdeşer was born in Famagusta on May 18, 1968. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Eastern Mediterranean University in 1991 and his master's degree in Business Administration from Eastern Mediterranean University in 1993. He received his PhD in Economic Policy from Marmara University in 2000. He wrote his doctoral thesis on "European Monetary Union, Euro, the European Union and its Possible Effects on the Turkish Economy". He became an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Near East University in 2008 and a Professor in the Department of Economics in 2019. Prof. Dr. Özdeşer, who started working as a part-time lecturer at Near East University in 1993, moved to a full-time position in 1999. After completing his paid military service in January 2001, he served as Head of the Department of Economics in the Winter Term of the 2001-2002 academic year. He is still holding this position. He was also appointed as the Head of the European Union Relations Department in 2005 and served as the founding head of the department. He currently serves as the coordinator of the European Union Relations Department.Reading books and newspapers, walking, and chatting with friends are his favorite activities in his free time. Prof.Dr. attaches great importance to spending time with his family and friends. Prof. Özdeşer is married and has one child.
